Census 2020 Complete Count Committee

The  Committee's purpose is communicating the importance and safety of completing the census questionnaire to constituents to ensure the Census count for Leon County and Tallahassee is as accurate as possible.  

The Committee's responsibility is increasing awareness and motivating residents to respond to the 2020 Census.

Focus Group
27 members as follows:
  1. The Director of the Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Department who shall serve as Chair
  2. One staff member from the Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Dept.
  3. One staff member from Leon County Community and Media Relations
  4. One staff member from City of Tallahassee Communications
  5. One staff member from the Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality
  6. One member from Florida State University
  7. One member from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University
  8. One member from Tallahassee Community College
  9. One member from United Partners for Human Services
  10. One member from Council of Neighborhood Associations
  11. One member from Leon County Schools
  12. One member from Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce
  13. One member from Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce
  14. One member from Capital City Chamber of Commerce
  15. One member from Faith-Based Community
  16. Seven Members - one member appointed by each Leon County Commissioner
  17. Five Members - one member appointed by the Mayor and each City of Tallahassee Commissioner
27 member seats as outlined in member eligibility:
  • 15 members appointed by the Appointing Entity (Seats 1-15)
  • 7 members  appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, with each Commissioner making one appointment. (Seats 16-22)
  • 5 members appointed by the Tallahassee City Commission, with the Mayor and each City Commissioner making one appointment. (Seats 23-27)

Maximum Number of Terms: 1
Committee shall dissolve no later than October 2020.
The Committee will convene four times leading up to and through the 2020 Census: (1) after finalizing appointments, (2) then in January 2020 to discuss mobilizing the count, (3) again just before the Census begins, and (4) once during the Census.
