Tallahassee-Leon County Commission on the Status of Women & Girls

The CSWG is an advisory committee that provides input and recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners and the City Commission, as needed, on approaches with which to address issues affecting the women and girls in Tallahassee, Leon County. The Committee's goal is promoting awareness on issues that affect women and girls in the community, including but not limited to discrimination, disparate experiences of diverse women and girls, employment, education, services, health, economic security, access to justice, freedom from violence and more.
Created by the County by Resolution R11-14 dated April 12, 2011.
Revised by a Joint Enabling Resolution No. 15-56 / 15-R-28, adopted on November 17, 2015.
Decision Making Committee
County & CSWG appointees: Must be a Leon County resident. City appointees: Must be a City resident.
An annual report on the activities of the Commission will be provided to the Board.
21 total members:
  • 7 - appointed by the Board of County Commissioners with each County Commissioner making one appointment
  • 7 - Appointed by the CSWG and ratified by the Board of County Commissioners and the City Commission
  • 7 - appointed by the City Commission with each City Commissioner making one appointment and the full City Commission making two appointments

Maximum Number of Terms: 3
The number of terms a committee member can serve is limited to no more than three full consecutive terms per CSWG bylaws, and Resolution No. 15-56 & 15-R-28.  
Vacancies are filled for the remainder of the unexpired term.
Monthly CSWG Commission meetings held on Friday at 11:30 a.m., typically at the Renaissance Center 2nd Floor Conference Room, located at 435 Macomb Street.

Additional monthly committee meetings held the first week of the month at the lunch hour, typically at the Oasis Center for Women and Girls Library room, located at 317 E Call Street.
