|What:||Fred George Park and Greenway Grand Opening|
|When:||Wednesday, February 17 at 2 p.m.|
|Where:||Fred George Park and Greenway, 3043 Capital Circle NW|
Leon County Government invites the community to celebrate the grand opening of Fred George Park and Greenway on Wednesday, February 17 at 2 p.m.
Located at the corner of Fred George Road and Capital Circle NW, the newly constructed park is made up of a 160-acre greenway and 10 acres of recreational amenities, which include a playground, a regulation-sized baseball diamond, a concession stand with a restroom and a multi-purpose field.
The park goers will also be able to relax and enjoy nature with the new walking trails that traverse the woods and lead to the natural sink. Newly installed sidewalks connect park vistors to nearby neighborhoods, businesses and the Leon County Lake Jackson Library and Community Center.
After the opening, citizens will have the opportunity to tour the park and greenway, which has trails for hikers, cyclists, walkers and joggers. Leon County also renovated a historic home on the property to be used as an education center and museum operated by the Wildwood Preserveration Society.
Fred George was an area resident of Tallahassee and a well-respected farmer, property owner, game warden and World War I veteran.
Immediately following the grand opening celebration, light refreshments will be served.
