FAC Awards Commissioner Bryan Desloge with Presidential Advocacy Award

At the recent Florida Association of Counties (FAC) 2015 Annual Conference, Leon County Commissioner Bryan Desloge was honored with the Presidential Advocacy Award.

Commissioner Desloge was an invaluable asset to FAC during the Legislative Session and showed exceptional commitment to advancing public policy and protecting county revenues. He visited the Capitol throughout session to help educate legislators on the impact of the county’s priority issues such as juvenile detention and Medicaid.

“It’s been an honor to serve in a variety of capacities for FAC. By working collectively with commissioners from around the state, we’ve been able to create a vision that has strengthened Florida counties,” said Commissioner Desloge. “I’m humbled by the recognition of this great organization.”

Additionally, Commissioner Desloge was one of 29 county commissioners recognized by the Florida Counties Foundation and the University of Florida/IFAS Extension’s Torchbearer Program, which recognizes graduates of the Advanced County Commissioner (ACC) certification that continue to participate in FAC activities and educational offerings after they have been certified.

“It is public servants like Commissioner Desloge that ensure our local communities have the authority to respond to the demands of their citizens,” said FAC Executive Director Chris Holley, “Commissioner Desloge’s advocacy, on behalf of, not only Leon County residents, but all Florida’s counties, was instrumental in advancing negotiations on our priority issues.”

Commissioner Desloge has served on the Leon County Board of County Commissioners for approximately nine years and served as chair from 2008-2009. In addition to the ACC certification, Commissioner Desloge graduated from FAC’s Certified County Commissioner (CCC) program and was also awarded the prestigious Presidential Advocacy Award by FAC in 2009 and 2010 for representing the interests of all counties on state issues. For the last five years, Commissioner Desloge has served on the FAC Executive Committee in the positions of Second Vice-President, First Vice-President, President-Elect, President and Immediate Past President.
