Tallahassee Sports Council
The Sports Council is a focus group that concentrates on the economic benefits of visitor-generating events to support sports tourism for the betterment of the community. The Sports Council provides a fact-finding source of community input and technical resources for use by Staff in developing a Staff recommendation regarding a sports tourism-related matter to be considered by the Tourist Development Council. Additionally, the Tallahassee Sports Council is charged with the responsibility of providing essential information to the Tourist Development Council regarding potential events, dates/date conflicts, and venue availability of proposed sporting events in Leon County.
Originally created in 1989 by the hospitality industry and business community.
Enabling Resolution No. 12-05, adopted by the Board on February 28, 2012, established the TSC as a Focus Group in accordance with Policy No. 03-15.
Resolution No. 23-36 reestablishing the TSC was adopted on October 10, 2023.

The six At-Large Members must be Leon County residents.

The Sports Council provides a fact-finding source of community input and technical resources for use by staff in developing a staff recommendation regarding a sports tourism-related matter to be considered by the Tourist Development Council. The TSC is coordinated by the staff of the Leon County Tourism Division.
Seventeen (17) total members consisting of one (1) representative from each of the following:
- 1) Florida A&M University, Athletics
- 2) Florida A&M University, Campus Recreation
- 3) Florida State University, Athletics
- 4) Florida State University, Campus Recreation
- 5) Board of County Commissioners (Chairman's appointment)
- 6) Leon County Division of Parks & Recreation
- 7) Leon County Schools, Activities & Athletics
- 8) Tallahassee Community College Athletics
- 9) Tallahassee/Leon County Civic Center
- 10) Tallahassee Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy
- 11) Tallahassee Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Affairs
- and
- 12-17) - Six (6) at-large members who have demonstrated experience and interest in aspects of sports within Leon County to be appointed by the full Board of County Commissioners.

Every other month on the Tuesday before the Tourist Development Council meeting. Meeting time 11am-1pm, at rotating locations.
